French, MA
Degree: Master of Arts (MA)
Field of Study: French
Program Overview
The MA program in French is designed to provide students with a broad foundation in French and Francophone literatures and cultures and to further develop their knowledge of the French language. Students take advanced literature courses grounded in literary and artistic movements, critical theories, and the contexts of production. There is a curricular emphasis on the modern period, beginning with the nineteenth century, but all major time periods and genres are represented. The program is interdisciplinary in nature and offers students an opportunity to take courses in related disciplines outside the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, according to their interests.
