Program Overview
The objectives of the dual PhD/MD program are to train unusually qualified and motivated students to conduct research on a broad range of bio-cultural problems, with emphasis on the relationship between medicine, ecology, subsistence variables, population dynamics, and disease epidemiology; and to identify and analyze sociocultural impediments to the successful introduction of effective functioning and evaluation of health care programs in diverse contexts. Applicants should make separate application for admission to the School of Medicine and the Department of Anthropology (through the School of Graduate Studies). Applications to the Department of Anthropology may include MCAT scores rather than GRE scores, in addition to other information indicated on the graduate school forms.
