Program Overview
Students wishing to earn the History, MA and the Law, JD must be separately admitted to both degree programs. They must meet the qualitative requirements of both degrees and earn them simultaneously, starting their coursework in the master's program in history prior to their fifth semester of law school. Also, no coursework completed prior to official matriculation in the law school may be counted toward the JD.
Program Requirements
For the joint JD/MA program, students must be admitted to both the history graduate program and the law school. They can earn the degree in either three and one-half years or three years and two summers of study, completing a total of 106 credit hours (including double credits of up to 9 credit hours).
