Program Overview
The MBA/MS in Medical Physiology dual-degree is offered by the School of Medicine and Weatherhead School of Management to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for those who wish to attain the following goals:
- Find career opportunities in healthcare consultation, hospital administration, hospital operations, pharmaceutical project management and more
- Enhance their chances of admission to medical school, osteopathic school, dental school, a PhD program or other related programs
MBA/MS in Medical Physiology candidates must complete separate applications, participate in the required admission tests and be admitted separately to each program.

Program Requirements
Students may complete the dual degree program of Master of Science in Medical Physiology and MBA program in two and a half academic years by completing 71 credit hours (51 credit hours of MBA coursework and 20 credit hours of Medical Physiology coursework).
The School of Medicine - School of Graduate Studies allows dual degree students to use 12 credit hours from the MBA to fulfill both MS in Medical Physiology and MBA requirements. The Weatherhead School of Management allows dual degree students to use 9 credit hours from the MS in Medical Physiology to fulfill both MBA and MS in Medical Physiology requirements. Students must achieve a grade of B or better to receive double credit for the courses. This reduces the total number of hours required for the two degrees by 21 credit hours.
MS in Medical Physiology/MBA students may enroll only on a full-time basis, except during summer sessions. Dual degree students must receive both the MS in Medical Physiology and the MBA degrees simultaneously upon completion of degree requirements at both schools in order to receive the 21 hours of cross-credits described above.
After completion of both degree programs, two separate diplomas are awarded. Course work for both programs must be completed within six years of the date of initial enrollment in either program.
Dual Degree Requirements
- Maintain a greater than 3.0 GPA in the 20 credit hours of MS in Medical Physiology courses and the12 elective hours accepted from the MBA program
- Pass the Medical Physiology Comprehensive Exam (taken after completion of the core physiology courses) and have a recommendation letter from the Program Director of the MS in Medical Physiology Program
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher in Weatherhead courses. Please refer to the Weatherhead School of Management Academic policies for graduation requirements.
